Profile
Bio
Brian was born and raised in Wichita and has lived in Kansas his entire life. Brian attended Wichita Southeast High School graduating in 1980 at the top of his class. Brian attended Wichita State University for one year before transferring to the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. This degree was earned in three and one-half years and Brian was in the top 10% of his class. Brian received a full scholarship at the University of Oklahoma and was the Gulf Oil Scholar during his college career.
While in college, Brian witnessed an awful moped collision that resulted in terrible injuries to a young woman. This event sparked an interest in Brian to pursue a law degree wherein he could help injury victims recover for their losses. Brian attended the University of Kansas Law School, where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1987. While in law school, he ranked in the top 10% of his class, was a member of the Kansas Law Review and served as an assistant editor of the Kansas Criminal Law Review.
Brian has practiced in Wichita since the summer of 1987, always at the same location, 2831 E. Central, the original Pistotnik Law location, and has successfully helped thousands of injury victims since that time. Brian’s family believes that his worst attribute is that he is a workaholic, but this obviously benefits his clientele. He is a member of the Wichita Bar Association, Kansas Association of Justice, Kansas Bar Association and previously has been a member of the American Association of Justice, and American Bar Association for many years.
Brian strives to loyally and faithfully be available to help his clients. This includes returning phone calls to clients at the earliest possible moment, spending the amount of time necessary to answer any and all questions, and meeting with clients as often as they like. Client satisfaction is his number one goal. Brian makes himself available after hours and provides clients with his personal cell phone number to ensure successful communication with his clients. Emails from clients are also read and returned in a timely manner. This dedication has resulted in an award which very few lawyers receive known as the Client Distinction Award from Martindale-Hubbell. He has also been designated as “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” by The National Trial Lawyers Organization and been labeled as a member of the “10 Best Attorneys” by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys. In 2019, Brian was awarded “Lawyer of the Year in Kansas” being selected by peer recognition by Best Lawyers. Brian had previously been awarded “Best Lawyers in America” by Best Lawyers. U.S. News also previously has awarded the firm “Best Lawyer Best Law Firms”.
Brian’s career as a lawyer has been very successful resulting in him helping many injury victims over the years, a point proven by the number of repeat clients and referrals by prior clients of family members, judges, lawyers, and friends. His career has taken him all over the State of Kansas to visit with injury victims and their families, to go to various courts in many counties throughout the State of Kansas, and to attend workers compensation hearings in all different venues of the Workers Compensation Courts throughout Kansas. Brian has also pursued many auto collisions, semi-truck collisions, motorcycle collisions, slip and fall accidents, and construction accident cases in the United States District Courts in Kansas as well as the various District Courts around the State of Kansas.
Over the years, clients have repeatedly informed Brian that he explains the laws and the procedures better than other lawyers and that they understand the process much better after meeting with him. This has obviously resulted in satisfied clients and additional client referrals. Brian frequently takes on cases that other lawyers reject and finds a way to get a successful outcome!
Brian is a highly devoted family man and has four children, two young men, and two young women. He has been happily married since 1988 to his wife Debbie. He is an admitted workaholic and devotes most of his time to helping his clients, but he makes time for his family. Other interests include golf, fishing, and following sports. He is an avid Wichita State basketball fan and an Oklahoma Sooners football fan, but he also enjoys Kansas State football and Kansas University basketball. Brian’s children have attended many colleges which he supports including Emporia State University, Wichita State University, Kansas State University, The University of Minnesota, and the University of Oklahoma.
